Are you considering your first Reiki session but unsure of what to expect? Whether you’re new to energy healing or simply curious about the process, I’m here to help guide you through the journey. Let’s walk through the steps we’ll take before, during, and after your Reiki session to ensure you feel comfortable and ready to receive the energy you need.

Before Your Reiki Session

Before our first session together, it’s important for me to get to know you a little better. Reiki is a deeply personal experience, and I want to ensure that I can provide the best care for you.

I recommend that you book a free 30-minute consultation prior to booking your first session. This is a chance for us to connect, discuss your intentions, and ensure that we’re a good fit for each other. During this time, you can ask any questions you might have, and I’ll provide some initial guidance on how the session will unfold.

  1. Client Form: Once you’ve booked your session, you’ll be asked to complete a simple intake form. This helps me understand your specific intentions and any areas of your life or body you would like to focus on during the session.
  2. Setting the Space: I perform Reiki from my home in a dedicated space. I create a secure and calming environment by intentionally opening an energetic portal just for you. Each client gets a fresh, clear space that supports healing energy. I also offer aromatherapy upon request.

How to Prepare for Your Reiki Session

To get the most out of your Reiki session, a little preparation can help you enter the experience feeling calm and open.

  1. Avoid Alcohol & Limit Caffeine: For 24 hours prior to your session, I recommend avoiding alcohol, as it carries a lower vibration that can interfere with energy work. If you tend to feel anxious, limit or avoid caffeine the morning of your session.
  2. Eat Light & Hydrate: Have a light snack before your session, but avoid heavy meals that might distract you. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before and after the session.
  3. Comfortable Clothing: Wear something comfortable that’s not too tight or too flowy, allowing the energy to flow freely around your body during the session.
  4. Bring Crystals or Personal Items: If you have any crystals, objects, or personal items that bring you comfort, feel free to bring them along. Bringing a journal is also encouraged so you can jot down any thoughts, emotions, or insights that may come to you.

During Your Reiki Session

Once you arrive, I’ll invite you into the serene space I’ve prepared specifically for you. I recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes early to settle in and get comfortable before we begin. The session takes place on a massage table, where you will remain fully clothed throughout the process.

  1. Comfort and Warmth: Reiki can affect people in different ways. Some clients may feel a rise in body temperature, while others may feel cooler during their session. I provide a sheet and a blanket so you can adjust according to how you feel in the moment.
  2. The Energy Work: During the session, I will place my hands either gently on (with your consent) or just above different areas of your body. You may feel a warm or tingling sensation as energy begins to flow, or you might simply feel relaxed and calm.
  3. Emotions and Your Experience: During your Reiki session, it’s completely normal for a range of emotions to surface. You may feel nervous, experience waves of calm, feel the need to cry or even fall asleep. All of this is okay — Reiki creates a safe space for you to release what no longer serves you.
  4. Energy Flow and Body Positioning: I like to work with both the front and back lines of energy within your metaphysical body. Your comfort is my priority, and we can absolutely modify the session to suit your needs.

After Your Reiki Session

Once the Reiki session is complete, we’ll take a few minutes to discuss your experience. This is an opportunity to share any sensations, emotions, or visions you may have had during the session.

  1. Grounding and Integration: This is your time to ask any lingering questions or simply talk about your experience. I like to personally follow up to see how you’re feeling and offer any continued support.
  2. Post-Session Experiences: Reiki often continues to work long after the session is over. Many people report feeling more grounded, centered, and peaceful in the hours and days following a session. I encourage you to drink plenty of water and give yourself time to process anything that might come up.
  3. Re-Portaling the Space: I ensure that between each client, the energy in the room is refreshed. After every session, I cleanse and reset the space, so when it’s your turn, you’re stepping into a completely renewed energy field just for you.

Preparing for Your Next Session

After experiencing the benefits of Reiki, many clients wonder how often they should schedule their next session. The recommended frequency depends on your unique needs and goals. For some, once a month helps maintain balance and well-being. Others may benefit from more frequent sessions, especially when going through significant life changes, healing processes, or periods of stress.

I look forward to working with you and holding space for your healing journey. If you have any questions or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we’ll create a calming, nurturing experience that allows the energy to flow where it’s needed most.
